CORONATION STREET’S BADDIE BECOMES THE ULTIMATE PANTOMIME VILLAN!

Posted: 13 May 2009

Kevin Wood, Chief Executive of First Family Entertainment, producers of the pantomime says ‘We are delighted to be working with Gray O’Brien. He is the soap star that everybody loves to hate and Gray was our first choice to play the baddie in Manchester this Christmas, because he is so perfect for the role. This production of Aladdin is going to be the most spectacular pantomime the Manchester audiences have ever seen with the most magnificent set and costumes, fabulous song and dance routines and a laugh-a-minute script. With all the doom and gloom we are faced with at the moment, pantomime is going to be the perfect tonic for the whole family at this very special time of year’.

Gray O’Brien says ‘I am so excited to be taking on this role. The bad guys are always the best characters to play but instead of hiding behind TV cameras this is my chance to get out there in front of live Manchester audiences and hear them boo me at the tops of their voices, I can’t wait. It is even more of an honour to be playing such a great venue as the Opera House in Manchester and it is only across the road from where we film Coronation Street so I’m sure some of my co-stars will be coming to see me so they can boo me too!’

Another
Coronation Street favourite, Eric Potts who played Diggory Compton, the baker in the soap will be joining Gray on stage, but this time donning some fabulous frocks as the pantomime dame, Widow Twankey.

Other star names to be announced.
